Stamp WITHOUT PREJUDICE across a PDF
One click, every page, at the size and opacity you choose — without the document leaving your computer.
A preset for the phrases that recur
Settlement offers, draft pleadings and privileged advice all need the same handful of stamps. The watermark tool ships with WITHOUT PREJUDICE, DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL and EXHIBIT as presets, so the common case is a single click rather than typing the phrase each time.
Size, opacity and angle are adjustable: a faint diagonal stamp reads as a watermark, a bold horizontal one reads as a label. Tiling repeats the phrase across the page so it cannot be cropped out of a screenshot.
A watermark is a label, not a protection
It is worth being precise about this. A watermark is drawn onto the page; it does not encrypt, restrict or authenticate anything, and a determined reader can still select and copy the text underneath.
What it does do is remove ambiguity about the status of a document — that a copy circulating by email is a draft, or that an offer was made on a without-prejudice basis. That is a communication job, and it is the job this tool does.
How it behaves
The original file is untouched: a new PDF is written with the watermark applied to every page, and the original stays where it is. Pages keep their size and orientation, and the underlying text layer is preserved so the document remains searchable.
Can the watermark be removed later?+
Not easily, but treat it as removable: it is drawn content, not encryption. Do not rely on it for confidentiality.
Can I watermark only some pages?+
Not yet — the stamp applies to every page. Split the document first, or ask and this can be added.
Is the document uploaded?+
No. The stamp is applied in the browser and a new file is written to your downloads folder.
Files are processed in the browser tab and are never uploaded. Slate is not legal advice or a case management system.
